If California were to establish a classification system, Ridge and its iconic Monte Bello vineyard would undoubtedly rise to the top. The vineyard is located twenty-three hundred feet above sea level, well above the fog line, in the northern reaches of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Reaching the winery entails a thrilling, yet harrowing, drive. The result of this location is a wine that is dense, structured, and long-lived rather than fleshy and over-ripe. Monte Bello, along with Heitz, is considered one of California’s finest wines of the traditional school. With roots dating back to 1885, the vineyard distinguishes itself as one of the few California sites containing limestone in the subsoil. Ridge is also celebrated for their Zinfandels, renowned for their remarkable aging potential. We are excited to present many of the greatest vintages of Ridge going back to the 1970’s, offering lovers of old-school California wines a very special experience.
