Perfect Bourbon Cocktails As Summer Turns to Fall

Whether you’re tailgating outside in the sun, or staying inside by the fire, these bourbon cocktails will take any September event up a few notches.
Gold Rush – This cocktail was created for NYC’s Milk & Honey speakeasy and it’s a perfect way to hold on to the waning days of summer.
- 2 ounces bourbon
- 3/4 ounce freshly squeezed juice from 1 lemon
- 3/4 ounce honey syrup (1 cup water, 1 cup honey heated until honey dissolves. Cool before using.)
- Combine, shake with ice, and serve in a tall, ice-filled glass.
Bourbon Sweet Tea – An easy-to-make cocktail that will nonetheless impress.
- 1 1/2 ounces bourbon
- 1/2 ounce limoncello
- 4 ounces iced tea
- Lemon for garnish
- Combine bourbon and limoncello in a glass with ice, pour iced tea over and garnish with lemon.
Black Manhattan – This moody version of the classic Manhattan, created at San Francisco bar Bourbon & Branch, will take the chill off as the leaves start to fall.
- 2 ounces bourbon
- 1 ounce Averna amaro
- 1 dash Angostura bitters + 1 dash orange bitters
- Mix bourbon, amaro, and bitters in a glass with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a cherry.
Brown Derby – This cocktail is a throwback to 1930s Hollywood and is ready for all your retro parties this fall.
- 2 oz. bourbon
- ¾ oz. fresh grapefruit juice
- ½ oz. honey syrup (1 cup water, 1 cup honey heated until honey dissolves. Cool before using.)
- Combine ingredient in a shaker and strain in to stemmed cocktail glass. Garnish with grapefruit twist.
